Beach & Community Cleanup
Caring for Creation Together
At Community of Christ Anaheim, we believe that caring for the earth is an act of discipleship. Our Beach and Community Cleanup days are a hands-on way to live out that calling. By coming together to pick up trash, recycle materials, and care for our coastlines, we honor God’s creation and build a healthier, safer environment for all who share it.
Why Beach Cleanup Matters
The Greater Los Angeles area beaches are more than just beautiful landscapes—they are part of the ecosystem that sustains life. When litter and pollution accumulate, it threatens marine life, harms the environment, and diminishes the experience of families who visit the shore. Our cleanup efforts are a small but powerful way of putting faith into action, reminding us that creation is sacred and we are entrusted as stewards.
Living Our Enduring Principles
Beach & Community Cleanup is rooted in the values we hold as a community:
Sacredness of Creation: We recognize the earth as God’s gift and commit to protecting and restoring it.
Responsible Choices: Picking up even a single piece of trash is a decision that contributes to the well-being of the whole.
Blessings of Community: Working side by side, we strengthen bonds with one another and with the world around us.
Generosity of Spirit: Giving our time and energy reflects the abundant love of God for all creation.
Supporting Our Mission Initiatives
Beach Cleanup also helps us live out Christ’s mission in the world:
Pursue Peace on Earth: A clean and healthy environment fosters peace between people, communities, and the natural world.
Develop Disciples to Serve: Every cleanup is an opportunity to teach and model discipleship through service.
Invite People to Christ: Serving in creation care is a welcoming act that often draws new friends to join us in mission.
Abolish Poverty, End Suffering: Environmental health is directly connected to human health, especially for vulnerable communities who suffer most from pollution.
How to Get Involved
You don’t need special skills to take part in a Beach Cleanup—just a willing heart.
Join Us: Bring gloves, reusable bags or buckets, and a spirit of service.
Bring a Friend: Invite neighbors, co-workers, or family to serve alongside you.
Model Stewardship: Teach children and youth the importance of caring for God’s creation by involving them in this ministry.
Pray and Reflect: As you serve, take time to give thanks for the beauty of creation and pray for its renewal.
A Simple Act, A Big Impact
Beach Cleanup is more than picking up trash—it’s an act of love, discipleship, and community. Together, we can make the Greater Los Angeles area’s coastlines cleaner, safer, and more beautiful, while living out Christ’s call to care for the earth and one another.
