Anaheim Congregation Church Growth Efforts

The Anaheim Congregation has reviewed the mission center church growth plan and its relationship to our congregation vision and mission.  We are choosing to focus on the area of bridging ministries as the beginning point for our church growth efforts. By bridging ministries, we mean those ministries that build or rebuild community through hospitality or welcoming ministries and through reconnecting to those who are separated from our congregational fellowship.

A special worship service on April 13 will focus on the church growth plan.  We will also be engaging in training activities.  A workshop on hospitality and welcoming ministries was held on March 29.  On May 10, we will have another workshop on reaching out to those separated from the congregation and on May 17 there will be a mission center workshop on hospitality.

Documents related to our growth efforts are available below.

Plan Launch Preparation Materials

Bulletin Inserts

The following bulleting inserts are intended to help prepare our people to engage in growing the Community of Christ in the greater Los Angeles area.  There is a bulletin insert for each Sunday from November 18 through January 6, leading up to the formal launch of the church growth plan implementation throughout the mission center on January 13, 2008.

This period of preparation coincides with the celebration of Thanksgiving, Advent, and Christmas.  Advent and Christmas meditations, in particular, typically focus on prophecy and stories leading up to Jesus’ birth, or on Jesus’ second coming. These meditations are focused on the good news of God’s kingdom and God’s saving grace—looking to the coming of Jesus among us now, in this place and time, with the good news of the kingdom and the invitation to come and follow him, and invite others to come with us.

Please reflect upon these meditations and pray about our desires and efforts to grow the Community of Christ in the greater Los Angeles area.

January 13, 2008, Launch Service Worship Helps

At the links below, you will find the Worship Helps and Worship Bulletin for Sunday, January 13, 2008, the scheduled date of our church growth plan launch throughout the mission center. Please use these "Helps" in place of the World Church helps for that Sunday. This resource has been created and developed especially for this worship service and simultaneous launch.

We request that:

  • your congregation share in this launch by utilizing this resource packet in the preparation of the January 13 worship service, especially the elements that are designated as key;
  • you arrange for photos to be taken and a report or news item to be written about your service that can be included in future mission center communications; and
  • you follow up this service with discussion among your congregation's leadership - priesthood, leadership team, pastorate, etc. - about specific ways that your congregation can engage in the efforts of Growing the Community of Christ

Please note that some of the items for the worship service will be sent to you separately. You should receive all necessary items not later than January 9.

May your preparations for and participation in the worship of January 13 be richly blessed as together we respond to God's continuing call to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
