2010 World Conference Graphic2010 World Conference

The church's 2010 World Conference convened April 10–17. Of particular note was the acceptance of the Counsel to the Church (January 17, 2010) as revelation to the church. It will now be included in the Doctrine and Covenants as Section 164. Conference news, minutes, photos, video clips, and other items from the conference can be viewed at http://www.cofchrist.org/wc2010/default.asp.

Companions on the Journey graphicCompanions on the Journey

Sometimes a phrase seems to capture our imaginations and excite us with a new sense of vision. “Companions on the Journey” is such a phrase for the Anaheim Congregation as we look to live out our personal and congregational discipleship. The phrase is not new—it’s the theme of one of our hymns—but the time seems right to use it as a catalyst for our engagement in mission. It also blends well with the new counsel to the church:

Beloved children of the Restoration, your continuing faith adventure with God has been divinely-led, eventful, challenging, and sometimes surprising to you. By the grace of God, you are poised to fulfill God’s ultimate vision for the church... If you truly would be Community of Christ, then embody and live the concerns and passion of Christ. The challenges and opportunities are momentous. Will you remain hesitant in the shadows of your fears, insecurities, and competing loyalties? Or will you move forward in the light of your divinely instilled call and vision? The mission of Jesus Christ is what matters most for the journey ahead. (Counsel to the Church, paragraphs 9a, d-f)

For more on the meaning of this theme, visit “Companions on the Journey”. Come and journey with us as we seek to fulfill the mission of Jesus.

Community Connections GraphicBecoming Neighbors

We have been a church in the neighborhood for many years, but in 2010, we hope to become more of a neighborhood church. We are including people from the neighborhood in the planning and conduct of our annual Trunk n Treat event for the first time. We are also beginning to partner with the Orange County Rescue Mission as they seek to minister to "the least, the last, and the lost of Orange County." We will be looking at other ways to share with our neighbors in meeting the needs of our community. Please visit the "A Missional People" page for more information about our present and future community connections.

Jesus GraphicComing to Know and Follow Jesus

We are a community of people seeking to know and follow Jesus. This isn't a historical quest or the honoring of a respected, but ancient man. We have come to know Jesus as someone who is alive and among us in our present-day world. And in response, we have begun a journey of personal and community transformation. We are growing and working together to seek peace, healing, and reconciliation for all people.
